The String Theory community

Founded in 2011 by pianist and composer George Paterakis, String Theory is a radical, open-source music community of professional and amateur musicians, that stands as a unique entity in the contemporary scene blending artistic excellence with a deep commitment to social cohesion and collective learning.

The core idea is to create a vital conduit for the diffusion of music and artistic appreciation within our society, as art should not be a distant luxury but a shared, living experience that resonates with the public and enriches our collective consciousness. 

String Theory's multifaceted presence is built upon:

• Choral & Vocal Ensembles: The platform maintains two mixed choirs and one String Theory Vocal Ensemble. Members are both musicians and music lovers. 

• Experimental Performances: Their shows are celebrated for their radical aesthetics, blending disparate musical worlds—from opera and Byzantine chanting to contemporary pop and urban storytelling—into a cohesive, avant-garde experience 

• Workshops & Seminars: String Theory offers regular music workshops that allow participants (professionals and amateurs alike) to experience the act of creation "from the inside."

• Lectures on Art & Music: Beyond performance, the platform hosts lectures and discourses on music history and the philosophy of art, examining the vital role of culture in building a cohesive society.

Bringing together opera singers, traditional artists, cult icons and indie songwriters, George Paterakis & String Theory meld an immensely diverse musical universe and transform it into stunning, bold, avant-garde performances.
